TWRP Recovery for ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE551KL/ZE600KL)


Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI is also fully XML driven and completely theme-able. You can change just about every aspect of the look and feel.

True Terminal Emulator - Includes arrow keys, tab and tab completion, etc. (by _that)
Language translation - It won’t be perfect and especially some languages that require large font files like Chinese & Japanese won’t be availble on most devices. Also some languages may only be partially translated at this time. Feel free to submit more translations to OmniROM’s Gerrit. (mostly by Dees_Troy)
Flashing of sparse images - On select devices you will be able to flash some parts of factory images via the TWRP GUI (by HashBang173)
Adopted storage support for select devices - TWRP can now decrypt adopted storage partitions from Marshmallow
Reworked graphics to bring us more up to date with AOSP - includes support for adf and drm graphics (by Dees_Troy)
SuperSU prompt will no longer display if a Marshmallow ROM is installed
Update exfat, exfat fuse, dosfstools (by mdmower)

How to Install:
  1. Install ADB on your Computer (download)
  2. Enable USB Debugging on Your ZenFone 2 Laser (Settings>Developer Options)
  3. Copy and Install Unlock Bootloader apk on Your Zenfone and run it
  4. Copy TWRP recovery.img based on your device
  5. Connect your ZenFone 2 Laser with your computer
  6. At TWRP recovery img folder Press shift+right click>open command here
  7. Check if device connected properly type on command prompt (will show serial number if connected properly) :
    8. adb devices
  8. If connected properly type these command in sequence (enter after each line):
    9. adb reboot bootloader
    fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
    fastboot oem reboot -recovery
  9. Wait for the device restart and entered the recovery 
  10. Done

Android devices come with Google’s recovery environment, which is often referred to as the “stock recovery.” You can boot to the recovery system by pressing device-specific buttons as your phone or tablet boots or by issuing an adb command that boots your device to recovery mode. The recovery menu provides options to help recover your device — for example, you can reset your device to its factory default state from here. The recovery mode can also be used to flash OTA update files. if you want to flash a new ROM to your device — or re-flash the factory default ROM file — you’ll need to boot to recovery mode first.

How to flash Original Recovery for Zenfone Selfie:

  1. Enter Fastboot Mode (Turn Off then Press Power+Volume up > There will be Fastboot Mode! text on the top of screen )
  2. Download Adb fastboot tool (Download)
  3. Copy Recovery.img to ADB Folder
  4. Open CMD ( at ADB Folder, press Shift + Right Click > Open Command Here)
  5. Connect Zenfone Selfie with PC/Laptop
  6. Type at cmd: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
  7. done

Zenfone Recovery Mode


Zenfone Android System Recovery
    1. Hold down the Volume up button, then press and hold the Power button for a few seconds, into Fastboot Mode mode.
    2. zenfone "RECOVERY", press the power button to confirm the choice by the volume keys.



      Restore Factory Setting:
        1. By the volume keys select "RECOVERY", then press the power button to confirm we'll see ASUS logo, such as 5 seconds (there will be a short black, normal) will see the android baby logo icon, as shown below:

        1. Operation android after see baby icon:
        • Hold down the volume down button
        • always hold, click volume up button
        • then release (volume up button), [Volume Down key, always hold]
        Will see the following screen, namely Recovery recovery mode, the volume buttons to select "wipe data / factory reset" press the power button to confirm.
        Then automatically restore the factory settings, after the restoration is completed, automatic feed system, you will see the language settings screen.
