iPhone TIPS: Confirmed iPad 3 has 9.7 Inch 2048x1536 Retina Display

Fellow blogger macrumors has confirmed the iPad 3. First will get an 9.7 Inch 2048x1536 Retina Display. They claimed to have the real display part in their hands, and did simply some measurements by hand ruler and counting the pixels with the human eye. :) The funny thing is that the size of the display is measured to be 9.7 Inch, which is the same display size as in the iPad 1 and iPad 2. 

However, there are much more pixels available making the Pixel-Per-Inch (PPI) will grow to 280. We have to remember that Apple has stuffed a 326 PPI screen into the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.  see my post HERE This makes the coming iPad 3 display have lower Pixel Density compared with their smaller phone-brothers. But...will this keep me away from buying? Well I think I will pass my iPad 1 to my wife and make me ready for 7 March 2012 for the launch of the new generation. However, keep in mind that 7 March is not confirmed. We wait and see.

What really matters, that what really counts for viewing quality is the Pixel-Per-Inch (PPI) value.
According the report, Apple seems to have a requirement of 280 PPI. 

"Pixel density, a barometer for viewing quality, should be increased to over 280 pixels-per-inch (PPI) to meet Apple’s stiff requirement for screen viewing,’’ said another source, who predicts that Taiwanese LCD giant CMI will see smaller orders from Apple than its Korean rivals."
